EXCELLENT Based on 55 reviews Posted on Google Joanne ClarkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have just had our single garage converted into a sitting room, flexible enough to become a downstairs bedroom, shower room and storage area, with bifold doors and outside patio area to the sitting room. Lee and the team have done an excellent job, exactly to our brief. It was really important to us to have a one stop approach to this work rather than having to engage with separate trades. They provided a daily update on the work undertaken and the plans for the next day which we found helpful. We also appreciated their advice and benefitted from their experience as the work progressed and decisions had to be made on design, fixtures and fittings. Their work was of a high standard and the professionalism, skills and approachability of all the team gave us confidence and peace of mind. They are a great, friendly bunch of lads and we are extremely satisfied with the project they have undertaken for us. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone wanting to undertake a garage conversion.Posted on Google Ian TylerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic Great job, done ahead of time and to very high standard, very professional Great advice along the way and we took onboard their advice with some minor change which resulted into a far better result Would have no hesitation in recommending ( already planning future projects with them) From HolmfirthPosted on Google Tom RTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently used West Yorkshire Garage Conversions and couldn’t be happier with the result. Lee and his team were absolutely superb from start to finish. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. His team were reliable, hardworking, and courteous throughout. They offered helpful advice and kept us informed at every stage. Our 3-year-old missed them when they left! Our new play room/guest room exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend Lee, Sam and the West Yorkshire Garage Conversions team to anyone considering it. You will be astonished at how much they can do in a week. We just wished we had done it sooner!Posted on Google Helen MellorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. WYGC converted our garage in February 2026 and we cannot recommend them highly enough. From the initial point of contact to the last screw going in the wall, the team were incredibly communicative, reliable and hard working. In the space of 7.5 working days, they took our dark, cold and unused garage and transformed it into a space that now feels part of the house and not just an ‘add on’. The team took every consideration of our needs as a family into account and guided us through the process, explaining different options that were available to us and giving advice when needed. They even came back a few weeks later to install some wall cabinets in our utility room which finished the room off perfectly. We have never known a team work as hard and as thoroughly as they did. The quality of their work was excellent and their attention to detail was second to none. We are incredibly glad we chose them to convert our garage and would highly recommend them every time.Posted on Google Lee RichardsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just moved into my house and purchased new windows. Needed a back door and window removing to make way for a new kitchen window. Lee came out to the house and quoted a reasonable price for the building work including fitting the window. I moved in last week and the work was completed in one week including re-plastering. All rubbish removed from site, floors mopped etc. What a great team he has and he was a pleasure to do business with. I fully recommend him and his team.Posted on Google Kate DilworthTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From meeting Sam back in August when we requested our initial quote and the communications that followed, we knew that this was the right company to create a unique room in our home! We found each and every member of the team to be polite, friendly and incredibly hard working going above and beyond to ensure that a high quality job and finish was achieved; they were all a pleasure have in our home and our dog, Ringo was sad to see them leave… Our specification for the space was very bespoke and we had a specific look and use for the room in mind which Lee and the team were able to bring to life! Attention to detail was always their top priority! We would throughly recommend Lee and the team ( and already have twice!). We absolutely love our new room and are looking forward to decorating it ready for Christmas. I used WYGC, to convert my old garage out the back to a man cave, and I couldn't have hoped for more with the final product.Lee, sam and the team were awesome from start to finish which was over 2 weeks. Kept in touch all the way through even when we were away, and nothing was to much trouble. They gave advice and ideas on what would look great, and I can't fault it, don't personally believe the job could have been any better, down to the finest detail. Would recommend to anyone looking to convert any space as the team really can turn something old, and bring it to life, thanks again.Posted on Google Vicki ShepherdTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely Outstanding in Every Way - Transformed Our Home! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give West Yorkshire Garage Conversions more than 5 stars, I genuinely would. From start to finish, this wasn't just a building project; it was an absolute pleasure. They promised brilliance and delivered in spades. The work was flawless, everything done exactly right, with incredible attention to detail. But what truly sets them apart is how they do it. They were unbelievably quick and efficient, yet never rushed or cutting corners. More importantly, they were consistently kind, friendly, and approachable. Honestly, nothing felt like too much trouble for them. I had a few "little extras" in mind beyond the initial plan, and not only did they happily accommodate every single one, they did so with a smile and genuine enthusiasm. Their communication was exceptional, I was always kept perfectly in the loop, with regular updates and clear explanations. There was never a moment of doubt or wondering what was happening. The result? My garage conversion isn't just functional; it's stunning. I can confidently say it's the best-looking conversion on my entire street. The quality and finish are phenomenal, and it's added so much value and joy to our home. My neighbours? Let's just say they're seriously envious of how utterly brilliant it looks! Choosing West Yorkshire Garage Conversions was one of the best decisions I've made for my home. They are a team of true professionals who take immense pride in their work, treat your home with respect, and genuinely care about exceeding your expectations. They are efficient, talented, communicative, and genuinely lovely people to have around. If you want a stress-free, high-quality, and truly enjoyable experience that leaves you with an incredible result you'll be proud of, look no further. I couldn't recommend them more highly. Worth every single penny! Thank you so much for building our son's dream space! Highest Recommendation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)Posted on Google Ben WalkerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After using West Yorkshire Garage Conversions to do a conversion on our garage. I asked them to quote for some building work on the house to remove some walls and a chimney. I was really keen for Lee and team to do the work as they’d had such high standards on our garage conversion. The work was tough and messy but the team kept to their schedule and we are absolutely delighted with the outcome. We had constant dialogue with the team as the works progressed and were able to discuss options to optimise plans as the walls came down, the steels went in and we could see the space unfold. Having the continuity of a single contact throughout the build phase, to discuss points such as where to put sockets or how best to blend the plastering into the existing coving was exactly the level of detail we wanted. The few snags we’d noticed after the team had left were sorted immediately and if we ever have another garage to convert or building work to do, Lee will be our first point of call.Posted on Google Chantelle GarroodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend West Yorkshire Garage conversions enough, from start to finish they were professional, efficient and polite and lovely to deal with. They got to work on time and finished earlier than planned and the work was finished to an amazing standard. We’re so happy we chose to work with them - thoroughly recommend!

James Glaves
“Lee and the West Yorkshire Garage Conversions team converted our internal garage into a playroom and the results were fantastic. We first received a professional and thorough written quotation detailing the work and ensuring all our requirements were captured. The work started really quickly and everything happened when it was supposed to.
Four important observations during the work: 1) the guys definitely put a full days work in. 2) they went beyond expectations when it came to cleaning up any mess and minimise any impact whilst I worked from home. 3) everyone was very friendly and professional. 4) social distancing and COVID-19 was taken very seriously.
Lee personally kept a very close eye on progress and was there to answer any questions and keep us updated every step of the way. Lee, like myself, has a keen eye for detail and the quality of the finish is clearly important to him and I found it top notch. I wanted all work to be signed off by building control to avoid any potential future difficulties when coming to sell, and this was all handled by West Yorkshire Garage Conversions with no trouble in getting the necessary paperwork from the council – they were happy to incorporate all the requirements necessary into the works.
The project was completed on time, in budget, and was exactly as promised. Cheers Lee and the team!”

“Last year the West Yorkshire Garage Conversions team built me a beauty salon at my home.
It was a big project with new internal walls, doors, plastering, sockets and spotlights, a bathroom, full cupboard units with sinks in both rooms, we also had outside lights put in.
The job was fantastic, Lee and his team worked very hard and the work was finished to a very high level. Loads of clients have commented how good it looks and we are super pleased with the finished results. we would highly recommend Lee and his team, thanks for the good work!!”

“Fantastic company!
Couldn’t be happier with our garage conversion. It’s made an unused integral garage into a cinema room for our children.
Lee and team advised us of the best way to design the room and went out of their way each day to tell us the stages the conversion was at and who we would expect on-site the next day.
Nothing was too much trouble and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
Just wish we had made the decision to do this before now.”
Shirley Jones
“Lee and his team did a conversion for us last week and the results are fantastic!
Not only do we now have more space to move around we feel the house feels so much bigger and spacious.
I would highly recommend, they were very easy to deal with, neat and tidy.
We are very happy with the results and now our mother-in-law wants hers doing the same! lol!
Thanks again Lee and team”
Danny Mellor
“Couldn’t be happier with the work completed by Lee & his team. Converted around 60% of our garage into a habitable room, giving us a good sized office/snug area yet still leaving a good amount of storage space in the original garage.
They guys were always on time, professional & courteous & nothing was too much trouble. All work done to building regs & signed off accordingly. We’re also extremely neat & tidy, cleaning up after each day’s work. Fitted us in on short notice & got the job completed before Christmas as promised. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.”

“Great service from Lee and his team. The work was done a lot quicker than I expected and to a fantastic standard.
Not even the amount of snow stopped these guys from cracking on and getting the job done. Really pleased with my new home office just need my furniture to arrive now! ?”
Caroline Handley
“Absolutely superb from start to finish. Lee and his team are reliable, well organised, courteous and knowledge about all aspects of building work.
The whole process was made so easy and we were kept fully informed about the construction until completion. We were so impressed we have already asked for a quote for another job!”
Laura Caine
“Lee and his team have done an amazing job in converting our detached garage to an office and bar.
They are all extremely professional, hardworking and friendly, and offered us lots of helpful advice as the project progressed. What impressed us the most was the high level of communication, strong work ethic and genuine pride in their work.
Lee spent over an hour to discuss our plans at quote stage which instantly gained our trust and made us feel at ease. He liaised with structural engineers and the Council’s building control department on our behalf and kept us updated on all matters daily.
We were also impressed with how quickly the job was completed at such a high-quality standard. All in all, commissioning them has proved to be an excellent decision and we are extremely happy with the end result! We would highly recommend them to anyone.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Planning permission is not usually required for having a garage conversion into additional living space, providing the work is internal and does not enlarge the building as this would come under planning permission, but it’s always best to contact your local council and the planning portal. Please refer to permitted development rights.
“With all building work, the owner of the property ( or land ) in question is ultimately responsible for complying with the relevant planning rules and building regulations ( regardless of the need to apply for planning permission and/or building regulations approval or not)”
Quoted from the planning portal
Our general advice is to always to discuss your proposals with the local planning authority and building regulations before starting work on your garage.
An integral garage costs between £10000 – £20000. The average price is around £14000.
A detached garage costs between £15000 – £25000. The average cost is around £20000.
A double integral garage costs between £20500 – £32000. The average cost is around £30000.
A detached double garage costs between £30000 – £45000. The average cost is £34000.
Converting your garage is an increasingly popular way to improve your home. With space at a premium and house extension costs ranging from £25,000 – £160,000 (and beyond) they’re one of the cheapest ways to transform a home. As an added plus, converting the garage means you won’t have to give up any of your garden space either.
It takes approximately 2 weeks start to finish to convert a garage, from the moment that we commence to the decorators doing final brush stroke.
We try to keep all disruption down to a minimum, taking care to keep your house exactly how you left it, dust sheeting internal areas of the house that need protecting, driveway space covered at all times, no tools and materials left lying about and making sure that all of our team will turn up with a brush, shovel and vacuum cleaner, as we believe a mucky tradesman is not a good tradesman.
We take a deposit which then allows us to get your fixed date for when the work can start, we will also issue you with a work schedule so you can see the process and steps along the way.
Simply fill out our enquiry form by requesting a free quotation below, and someone from our friendly team will contact you within 24 hours to arrange a home visit and quote you happy, once you’re happy and signed up we can book you a confirmed date for work to commence.
There is no legal requirement for you to hire an architect for your garage. However, working with a professional architect will give you a much better chance of converting the space to a high standard. They will also have experience in dealing with local planning authorities and other relevant agencies that are involved in the process. Just as importantly, using an architect will ensure the space is converted to meet the latest safety regulations.
In short an architect is not required but it can be a useful especially if the customer is not certain on what’s possible, whoever is doing the proposed works should be able to offer you this advice and planning however if you would like to get a second opinion from a professional who would be regulated on the subject it can be worthwhile.
A Garage Conversion can definitely add value to your home, in some cases it could be around a 20% increase. Another bonus when doing a garage conversion is that planning permission is not always required which cuts down further costs and stresses but will still provide you with the same end product. If you get your conversion signed off by building regulations as a habitable space then your home will have an extra bedroom / liveable space which of course will certainly add value to your home.
Generally speaking when doing a Garage conversion there are two main types of flooring, firstly a floating floor which is insulated foil backed board sat on top of a damp proof membrane, this is when the required flush floor level is around 100-200mm. The other type of flooring would be a suspended floor which is a timber frame that is sat on top of your damp proof membrane, this flooring would be for larger flush floor levels, probably anything over 300mm. The best finish for the flooring would be chipboard caber flooring which can be installed on top of either a floating or suspended floor, the chipboard flooring will make a nice bed for any floor finish you require whether that be carpet, laminate or vinyl.
To raise the floor in your garage conversion there are two main ways in which this can be done to achieve a flush floor level with that of the rest of your house.
The first way would be to install a floating floor, this is the installation of a damp proof membrane on the concrete floor slab and then insulated foil backed PIR board will sit on top, jointed together with foil tape to hold it in place, this is done in order to provide a solid insulated base which will provide you with a flush floor level throughout.
Option two would be a suspended floor, starting of again with the installation of damp proof membrane however this time on top of the membrane a timber frame is installed and secured using joist hangers, this again provides stability but it’s more for the distance between the concrete floor base and the finished floor level, a suspended floor is generally used when the distance would be quite large eg something over 300mm from the ground. The cavities of the frame are insulated with PIR board also to provide the correct thermal levels.
In regards to your garage conversion flooring there are a few different ways and a few different factors when it comes to insulating, firstly the two types of floors would be either a floating floor or a suspended floor. The floating floor would be insulation that sits on the membrane to provide a flush floor level ( these are generally used for floor levels of up to 150mm ) and re suspended floor if for larger flush levels at 300mm plus, depending on what levels of insulation is required by building regulations can be a factor as sometimes there will be less insulation required as the floor level maybe be smaller or non existent, in this instance extra insulation would be installed on the walls or ceiling to offset the required amount that should be in the floor.
